About James

James M. Hernandez, owner and principal designer of James Hernandez Design, has the distinct ability to create interiors with both modern and traditional elements which seamlessly transition into one cohesive vision. With offices in South Pasadena, Mr. Hernandez has represented clients all over Los Angeles County as well as in Ventura, Orange Counties and San Francisco.

Mr. Hernandez began his design career in 2000 as an apprentice at a design company based in Los Angeles. After completing a year length sabbatical traveling through Europe and residing in Barcelona, Spain. Mr. Hernandez returned to the United States to open his own firm. Known for his high end residential interiors, Mr. Hernandez provides creative consultation services for interior design, space planning, furniture design, paint colors, window treatments, and lighting. Mr. Hernandez also attends the European furniture market, Masion & Objet, in Paris, France gaining inspiration to incorporate into his design work.  

His interior work has been published in various print and web media. Most recently Vanity Fair, "I am Cait" Documentary series on "E",  DailyMail.com, Realtor.com, The L.A. Times, Pasadena Magazine, Dreams Magazine and Variety. He has also been featured on various television programs including, Kimora: Life In The Fab Lane with Kimora Lee Simmons and Better Homes and Great Estates on the HGTV, E!, and Lifetime channels. The most recent publication featuring his work was the July issue of Vanity Fair, "Call me Caitlyn."

Mr. Hernandez has also been a four time participant in the prestigious Pasadena Showcase House of Design, the nation's largest Home and Garden tour. His work on the 2006 Showcase Home, the "Kitchen Terrace and Grill Garden" was widely acclaimed and heralded as an audience and critic’s favorite.
